What's SAF and how does it help CO2 reduction?
|
SAF, or Sustainable Aviation Fuel, is a hot topic in the airline industry and essential for ANA to achieve our goal of achieving net-zero emissions from aircraft operations by FY2050.
ANA procures its SAF from used cooking oil, such as those used to make tempura, animal fat derived from processing meat, and vegetable oils from vegetable residue.
By using SAF in place of fossil fuels, we can reduce CO2 emissions by a total of about 80%, from collecting raw materials to manufacturing, transportation, and use.
